Concrete slabs adhesive mounting

Concrete slabs adhesive mounting

On which substrate can the architectural concrete be glued?

The support for the adhesive mounting of architectural concrete plates shall be load-bearing, dry, firm and clean.

The best base for architectural concrete is:

– cement-lime plaster

– gypsum plasterboard in flame retardant or water resistant versions.

category III or IV OSB panels

– steel or aluminum rack

– concrete

– terrazzo

it is possible to stick to old ceramic or stone tiles

The installer should read the installation instructions carefully at each time.

Should I land a concrete slab and the wall before assembly on the adhesive?

This is a common question about mounting concrete plates to walls in a glue system.
The primer greatly improves the bonding quality and is one of the warranty guarantees for safe assembly.

Surface Contact IPX-8 Hybrid ground is the most advanced ground on the polish market with innovative recipes and complex, universal properties. It was developed and manufactured specifically for Luxum® for installation of architectural concrete in the form of decorative panels for interior walls and for elevations (facades). It is also an ideal ground for bonding natural stone, including sensitive stone (the architectural concrete in the plates should also be treated as a sensitive stone). It is the only specialist hybrid field on the Polish market that is easy to use, quickly dries and combines the advantages of penetrating, reinforcing, connection with hydroisolation. At the same time, surface Contact IPX-8 Hybrid Ground is a safe product. What’s more, it allows you to breathe walls, and it shall prevent the formation of adverse microbial flora on surfaces on contact surfaces of architectural concrete or other stone with ground.

For elevations (facades), fence , fireplaces, floors, stairs, cement-lime plaster, both the ground and the side of the concrete plate should be primed. If you mount the architectural concrete on the inside walls with OSB or GK, only the ground can be primed.

Before use, refer to the instructions on the package and the instructions for installing architectural concrete.

Can I use a high-elastic cement cement adhesive to bond concrete plates and which adhesive should I choose?

This is one of the most common questions about the installation of architectural concrete. In 9 out of 10 cases when using cement adhesive in white S1 or even better S2, this will be effective and sustainable. However, we still have 10% of those that do not risk better.

Water contained in cement (even when you use an emulsion to process cement), undesirable effects may occur. Including warding discs, staining, changing the color of the discs completely or locally, cracking, buckling, and unwelding from the ground. In laboratory and experimental studies on construction, no cement glue obtained the necessary approval. Therefore, we do not recommend bonding architectural concrete to cement. This bonding of concrete plates is only at your own risk.

For the best safety performance, efficiency and comfort at the same time, Luxum® entrusted the development and production of the anhydrous, the strongest, convenient for glue application – the world’s leading global concern in the construction chemicals sector.

Luxum provides a specialized, dedicated adhesive for quick assembly of boards of architectural concrete, also on most difficult substrates. For indoor and outdoor use.

The convenient 290 ml cartouche is enough for installation as much as 1.5 m2, even the largest concrete slab. The adhesive is frost-resistant, UV resistant, super flexible, extremely binding and appreciated by professionals – easy to use. Significantly speeds up concrete plate assembly work, saving work and therefore creates real savings. Luxum® architectural cement is the only 100% proven and dedicated adhesive. What’s more, by using the original Luxum adhesive to mount concrete boards, you are environmentally conscious, you are assured of safe and effective installation under warranty. Always follow the instructions on the packaging and the instructions in the concrete installation instructions.

Many manufacturers indicate that concrete plates can be mounted on a mounting foam. This can be done as a support procedure. However, the assembly on the foam itself is not recommended and does not correspond to the construction art.

What to do when I have gypsum plaster and I don’t want to cuff it?

It is best to install a GK plasterboard on the plaster (green or red) or an OSB or MFP board. The installation of architectural concrete on these substrates is trouble-free.
